Wellbeing Scotland

Transition through secondary school can present many challenges for young people which can bring on stress, anxiety, depression or relationship problems with those around them.

Wellbeing Scotland school based counselling and therapeutic services offer support to young people faced with difficult life experiences.

Counselling offers a safe, confidential place for young people to talk about experiences that may be confusing, painful or uncomfortable. These experiences may exist within their own home, community or at school.

If you feel that you would benefit from this service, or would like more information please see your Pupil Support Manager, Miss Murphy or Mr McDougall.

You can also email if you would prefer: gw14murphyk@glow.sch.uk

We are here to support you in any way we can.

Seasons for Growth

A team of staff deliver the Seasons for Growth Programme.  Seasons for Growth is a programme for children, young people or adults who have experienced significant change or loss.

Seasons for Growth is based on the belief that change, loss and grief are a normal and valuable part of life. We examine the impact of changes such as death, separation, divorce, and natural disaster on our lives, and explore how we can learn to live with and grow from these experiences.

LIAM

Let’s Introduce Anxiety Management is a training package is intended to develop skills in the delivery of a Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)-informed approach for the treatment of mild-moderate anxiety symptoms in children and young people (CYP). We have specialised trained staff who deliver LIAM to pupils within the school.

First Aid for Mental Health

We have a dedicated team of staff who are trained in First Aid for Mental Health.  In general, the role of a Mental Health First Aider in the workplace is to be a point of contact for an staff or pupils who are experiencing a mental health issue or emotional distress. This interaction could range from having an initial conversation through to supporting the person to get appropriate help.

MVP

Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP) is a peer mentoring programme that gives young people the chance to explore and challenge the attitudes, beliefs and cultural norms that underpin gender-based violence, bullying and other forms of violence.

It addresses a range of behaviours including name-calling, sexting, controlling behaviour and harassment, and uses a 'by-stander' approach where individuals are not looked on as potential victims or perpetrators but as empowered and active bystanders with the ability to support and challenge their peers in a safe way.
