Outdoor Residential Learning Away Opportunity

Dear Parent/Carer,

Calderglen has always had a strong history of providing an opportunity for pupils to participate in Outdoor Residential Learning Away Experiences. Learning in the Outdoors has always had a positive impact on young people’s mental health and well-being as well as providing an environment where many skills like resilience, determination, problem solving, and communication are developed.

I’m delighted to offer the potential of two different opportunities for our S1 and S2 pupils.

Hopefully one of these options is accessible. We would like to gauge the level of interest.

We understand at this time that there are many pressures on the family household budget. The organising staff endeavour to provide best value for money on all our residential experiences and go to great lengths to get the best experience that they can. Option 1 - Scottish Outdoor Education Centres – Broomlee, West Linton

Monday 27^th – Wednesday 29^th November 2023

Estimated cost £185

3 day 2 Night Full Board with Indoor accommodation.

Full package of Instructor Lead Activities supported by key staff within the school.

Option 2 - Wiston Lodge Overnight Camping Experience

May 2024

Estimated Cost £25 -£30

One night Camping residential with Key staff from Calderglen High School.

Fully catered for in a camping Environment.

Group Activities lead by CHS staff.
